B.ED (Bachelor of Education)
B.Ed. or Bachelor of Education is a two-year professional course that is done after graduation to work as a teacher in schools. According to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), It is mandatory for all teachers to complete a B.Ed. Course for Elementary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary Schools in India.
Description of Course
As per the UGC guidelines, students will follow the course prescribed by the NCTE and Jai Prakash University, Chapra for 2-Years B.Ed. Program, as and when notified.
Objectives of the B.Ed. program:
A. To provide the best possible educational facilities for teaching proficiency with professional exposure for training of student teachers to enhance their career in education.
B. To provide extensive knowledge of a particular discipline and relevant professional knowledge and skills, classroom management skills, and respect for the principles, discipline, values, and ethics of a chosen profession
C. To provide a creative atmosphere in which higher studies and research thrive both amongst the students and the faculty.
D. To organize short intensive courses, conferences, and seminars on current technological developments, pedagogical development, design low-cost time, and personality development with soft skills that will benefit the surrounding community.
Duration of the B.Ed. Program:
It is a two-year regular (full-time) program based on Four Semesters.
Scope of the B.Ed. Program:
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) program offers diverse career opportunities in the education sector. Graduates can become teachers in schools, coaching institutes, and special education centers. They can also pursue higher education like M.Ed. or Ph.D. for academic growth. The program opens doors to government teaching jobs through TET/CTET exams and roles in educational administration.
Under Eligibility for the B.Ed. Program
The candidate requires at least 50% marks in an Undergraduate Degree (UG) or Postgraduate (PG) of all streams of education.
Curriculum
The B.Ed. course covers a range of subjects, including some foundation subjects (Educational psychology, philosophy and sociology). It also includes specialization in subjects or educational levels.
